General Assembly of the AER

The Government of the Illes Balears-E and the Assembly of European Regions (AER) announced today at a press conference that the next General Assembly of the AER will take place on 9th and 10th November 2006 in Palma de Mallorca.

Demystifying globalisation will be the main topic of this year's General Assembly: Is globalisation linked to environmental damages? Is it a danger for cultural identity? Do worldwide migrations constitute a threat? How does the delocalisation of companies affect the Regions?

600 participants are expected to attend this event, among them representatives of AER Member Regions, European Institutions as well as a number of experts in this field.

The Vice-President and Councillor for Institutional relations, Rosa Estarás, the Councillor for Economy, Finance and Innovation, Luís Ramis dŽAyreflor and the Councillor for the Presidency and Sports, Rosa Puig, as well as the Secretary General of the AER, Klaus Klipp, took part in the press conference.

 

 

The Assembly of European Regions (AER) is the political organisation of regions in Europe and their spokesperson at European and international level. Its vocation is to defend the regions' interests in the political process and develop interregional cooperation. AER brings together 255 Regions from 30 European Countries and 13 interregional organisations.(www.a-e-r.org)
