The Assembly of European Regions is looking for a Communications Intern
for its Press and Communications Department

The Assembly of European Regions (AER) is the largest independent network of regions in wider Europe. Bringing together more than 260 regions from 33 countries and 13 interregional organisations, AER is the political voice of its members and a forum for interregional co-operation.

AER is looking for an intern to work for up to 6 months in its Press and Communications Department, from 1st September 2008.

PROFILE:
Candidates should have a strong interest - and preferably some experience - in print or electronic media and a general understanding of European policies. Preference will be given to journalism students and candidates who speak at least TWO European languages. The internship will be based in AER's Brussels office.

DUTIES:
The successful candidate will be involved in press-related activities within the Department, including:

- Preparation of background material such as press kits for journalists
- Supporting the direct press work of the Department, such as the drafting of press releases
- Liaising with Brussels-based journalists and fostering AER's contacts with key media outlets
- Management of media databases

In addition, the intern will support the work of the AER Brussels office, i.e. assist in the organisation of events, prepare information of EU policy developments and represent AER vis-à-vis Brussels institutions and stakeholders

The AER Internship conditions:

For all internships within the AER, a contract must be signed by the AER and the student's home University/School/Institute. Please note that this is compulsory.
Students receive 150 euros per month for their training period. Please note that travel and living costs must be met by the students.
