Genève (CH)

For quite some time now, the Canton of Geneva has been very active in the field of international solidarity. As an important international meeting place and the birthplace of humanitarian aid, it gives home to numerous international and non-governmental organisations that have chosen to establish their headquarters there.

Having adopted a law on international solidarity in 2001, the Canton gives support to many projects in the countries of the south through various associations. Projects are from all fields: education, economy, environment, health, culture, human rights etc. Furthermore, the Canton has carried several decentralised co-operation projects together with partner bodies.

Jura (CH)

In the Republic and Canton of Jura (RCJU), development aid is managed by the Department for co-operation. The Department is also in charge of other forms of co-operation, such as the proximity co-operation (with the neighbouring regions and cantons), the interregional co-operation (with the Regions with which Jura has no common border), the European Affairs etc.

In the field of development aid, RCJU's particularity is that it manages own projects, i. e. projects are not subcontracted to other organisations or associations.
