The European Commission has invited AER to nominate a limited number of experts in public procurement and health. The Commission will finance the participation (travel & accommodation) of a selection of these.

Agneta Granström, Chairperson of the AER eHe@lth network, will chair the first of these two workshops and contibute to the panel discussion of the second session.
The workshop will look at recent developments in ehealth and will also discuss concerns regarding data protection, supporting health stakeholders and creating a sustainable market in ehealth.

This seminar gave the possibility to discuss the legal challenges regions encounter in developing ehealth policies and alowed regions to learn from each other's successes and setbacks on how to overcome these.

At the invitation of the European Commission (DG Information Society) the AER's delegation participated in the eHealth Ministerial Conference, which was exclusively addressed to national governments of the EU Member States.
The theme of the Conference was:
'eHealth Without Frontiers'.

This working meeting allowed participants to:
- tell other regions what they are currently working on in ehealth
- inform us of their future priorities in ehealth
- discuss with other regions possible cooperation and funding opportunities, find partners or join projects

The region of Norrbotten (S), in cooperation with the AER and DG SANCO, organised a workshop during the Open Days 2007 entitled "Fostering cross-border cooperation for healthcare and accessibility to health services" (Wednesday 10 October, 17:00-19:00).
The aim of this meeting was to discuss and develop the activities of the AER e-health network and to allow regions to update each other on developments in their projects.

The AER e-he@lth network was launched with a seminar on e-health, held in Brussels on 15 February 2007.
Organised jointly by the AER and the County Council of Norrbotten (S) in June 2006, this conference highlighted the potential of e-health not only to improve the management and delivery of health services, but also to contribute to a region's overall economic development and competitiveness.
The European Commission has published a draft recommendation on e-health interoperability. You can download the AER Contribution as adopted by the General Assembly in Udine (FVG-I) on 8. November 2007 below.
