The 2003 Competition

For the 2003 competition, European enlargement had been declared the motto. The questionnaire therefore put an emphasis on the preparative measures the regions develop in this context with regard to the youth.

On 2nd July 2003, the Jury examined the contributions received from 34 Regions of 17 countries:

There was unanimity that the efforts of Lancashire should be rewarded ...
and the collaborators of Lancashire County Council exploded with joy when the news was broken to them.

The jury was nevertheless conscious that the conditions for the Regions' participation properly spoken but also concerning the implementation of youth policies vary still a lot between east and west. It therefore awarded the Region of Adjara with recognition.

 

The prize was awarded during a special ceremony on the occasion of the AER General Assembly in Poznan on 27th Novembre 2003
