The Competition 2007

For the 2007 competition, equal opportunities and intercultural dialogue had been declared the motto. The underpinning questionnaire therefore put an emphasis on measures which the regions organise or develop for the benefit of the youth in these fields.

34 Regions from 16 countries have participated (see list below).

The Jury met on 25 September in order to examine the applications and the analysis that had been prepared by students from the HAK Neunkirchen. The members unanimously agreed to award the Romanian Region of Vrancea with this year's prize.

The reasons for the decision were based on the extent and the quality of the network established between the Vrancea County Council departments, the Youth representative organisations and other NGOs as well as the variety of projects and initiatives developed for and with the young people:

  • implementation of a European Youth portal
  • "Spring day": a public debate between students on youth advantages and disadvantages in active European citizenship
  • "The week of Global education": event that raises awareness concerning elderly people, poverty and emergency aid and promotes mutual aid in these areas
  • Project "A second chance for life"
  • Events: "All different, all equal" - "A day without linguistic barriers" – "Book fair for children and youth" – "international year of francophony" – "Under the European stars – values of Europe, values of the Romanian village" and many others ...
