    Background

Please consult the AER funding tracker for further information on the OMC-NET call for projects.

ERA should inspire the best talents to enter research careers in Europe, incite industry to invest more in European research – contributing to the EU objective to devote 3% of GDP for research, and strongly contribute to the creation of sustainable growth and jobs.

The European Commission published a green paper and launched a broad institutional and public debate on what should be done to create a unified and attractive European Research Area, which would fulfil the needs and expectations of the scientific community, business and citizens. The public consultation on the ERA green paper lasted from 1st May 2007 until 31st August 2007. The consultation process was developed in parallel to the discussion with the other institutions. The Commission will use the results of the debate to prepare initiatives that will be proposed in 2008.
