Equal Opportunities for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transsexuals

The AER was recently asked whether its group on Equal Opportunities was working on equal rights for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transsexuals. Although our Group has not, up to now, worked on that specific issue, our previous declarations show that the AER is condemning any form of discrimination:

"The AER reiterates [...] support [...] elimination of gender-related stereotypes in society (basic foundation of misogyny and homophobia) [...]" (Timisoara Declaration, October 2007, II/2).

"The AER supports [...] the European Parliament Resolution condemning homophobia in Europe (RC-B6-0025/2006), considering homophobia and sexism are two faces of the same coin" (Kiruna Declaration, March 2006, IV/21/e).

"The AER [...] ask(s) the AER regions to include the systematic fight against discrimination based on [...] sexual orientation [...], as outlined under point III,II-21 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights as one of the priorities of their next term of office" (Venice Declaration, November 2003, 10)

If your region wishes to discuss over this particular topic or to start a project, please contact the AER Secretariat : s.coolsdelete_me(at)aerdelete_me.eu
